Contesting a Will

Suffering the bereavement of a loved one is hard enough not only emotionally but the financial impact that this can cause. This can become worse when you or another party need to contest the Will or estate of the deceased.

Contesting A Will

Disputing a Will is becoming increasingly common. Families become more complex; second or third marriages are not unusual and children from those second or third marriages are not unusual either. Co-habitation is also a reason why a Will can often be contested, maybe provision has not been made for a person whom it should have been made for.

Willsons Solicitors can ensure that any claim you need to bring against an estate is handled as efficiently and effectively as possible. Certainly when defending an action Willsons Solicitors are the ones to call to ensure that there is as little delay as possible.

We appreciate the trauma that these issues can bring and that is why Willsons Solicitors want to help.

Why Contest a Will?

Under the Inheritance Act if you were wholly or partially financially dependent upon the deceased and have not been provided for in the Will, or under intestacy rules if there is no Will, you may have a claim, eg, if you are:-

  1. The wife, husband or civil partner of the deceased
  2. A former wife, husband or civil partner who has not since re-married or formed another civil partnership
  3. Someone who lived with the deceased for at least two years before the death
  4. A child of the deceased
  5. A person treated as a child of the deceased
  6. Someone who has been financially supported by the deceased up until death.

Willsons Solicitors will be able to advise you of your rights.

There may or may not be a Will, Willsons Solicitors can advise on the appropriate course of action.

About Annamaria

Annamaria graduated from the De Montfort University in Leicester before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997. She has practiced law locally in Nuneaton and Bedworth since 1985 and has worked as a solicitor locally since qualifying.

At the beginning of her career, Annamaria dealt with all aspects of family law. In recent years, Annamaria has turned her skills to private client work. Her skills from her days as a family lawyer have stood her in good stead for this, as often preparing Wills needs an understanding of family dynamics.

Annamaria is very excited about the merger, and to be a part of a dynamic busy practice headed by the senior partner Bob Willson. She is working closely with Bob in the Private Client department, preparing Wills, and dealing with Probate for clients as well as Lasting Powers Of Attorneys, which are needed by most of our clients.

Annamaria considers her strengths to be her client relationships. She has an excellent rapport with her clients and will strive to ensure that they are provided a good service that meets their needs and expectations. Annamaria offers both understanding and compassion in what can often be very difficult circumstances. The priority for her is to ensure that clients are made to feel comfortable and at ease, knowing they are in capable hands.

Away from work, Annamaria loves nothing better than taking her spaniel Basil for long walks and spending time with her friends and family. Summer months keep her busy gardening, which she finds relaxing, and she also has a 9 hive apiary which keeps her busy. Any excuse to watch local team Leicester Tigers or any national rugby match is a bonus.
